TAVI / TAVR Surgery

Valve replacement without open-heart surgery, via a transfemoral approach.

Overview

TAVI/TAVR replaces a narrowed aortic valve using a collapsible bioprosthetic valve delivered through a catheter, usually via the femoral artery, avoiding open-heart surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass. A heart-team approach ensures precise sizing and safe positioning.

Procedure Details

  • Comprehensive pre-procedural CT and echocardiographic sizing.
  • Valve-in-valve capability for failing prior bioprosthetic valves.
  • Transfemoral access with a short, well-tolerated recovery.
  • Live fluoroscopic and echocardiographic guidance during deployment.
  • Severe symptomatic aortic stenosis.
  • Older or frail patients unsuitable for open surgery.
  • Patients with prior cardiac surgery or significant comorbidities.
  • Degenerative aortic valve disease.
